What if you'd like to record a 4K 60FPS video of 10 minutes or an hour? Your video will be extremely huge. Yet that's not the point. You don't have to lower the GoPro recording settings to make a compromise of video quality owing to the size limit. Just shoot 4K, 2.7K, 1080p/720p videos at the best setting for GoPro. If the final video is oversized, you can compress the GoPro video with VideoProc Converter without quality loss.
Double-click your selected format or click gear-shaped "Codec OPT" button to access to an interface, where you can lower GoPro video resolution from 4K/2.7K to 1080p or 720p HD, change 240/120/60 fps frame rate to lower 30/24fps, drop the bitrate, turn aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9, or adjust audio etc.
I find the cost to be fairly close ($38 for smallrig cage + $50 for 3.5mm mic adapter) but the benefits are:1) easy access to battery but protected;2) gopro is protected especially the lens;3) can add filters;4) two additional cold shoes to add light and/or external recorders and/or other accessories like power bank
This takes 4K video recording off the table for the Session, something possible on both the Black and Silver. However, the Black has higher frame-rate recording at 4K, being capable of 30 or 25 fps shooting compared to the 15 or 12.5 fps of the Silver. The Black is also capable of 4K Superview recording, which is only available at 1080p on the other two models.

The latest Hero variations are, as usual, iterative takes on the progressing GoPro lineup, but with a few notable changes. First, the Hero 4 Silver is the first GoPro to offer an integrated touchscreen and carries over the same shooting capabilities as the Hero 3+, last year's top-of-the-line model. A new $129 entry-level GoPro, simply dubbed "Hero," captures 1080p footage at 30 frames per second and 720p at 60fps, comes with a waterproof housing and uses a new all-new black camera body, all of which are decent specifications for the price.
Finally, the Hero 4 Black, GoPro's flagship and the camera under review, carries over the same small form factor for which the company is known, but doubles high-resolution frame rates to 120fps for 1080p and 30fps for 4K. The new specs are impressive and in many ways take GoPro to an entirely different level in terms of usability.
The Hero 4 Black supports a total of 47 different resolution and frame rate combinations, ranging from 30fps at 4K (3840-by-2160 pixels) to 240fps at WVGA (848-by-480 pixels). Each resolution worked as advertised during testing, but we concentrated on resolutions of 1080p and higher as we believe these to be of most interest to prospective buyers.
4K resolutions are great if you have a compatible monitor or television, but may not be worth sacrificing shooting speed, especially when using the Hero 4 Black as an action cam. It should be noted that Hero 4 Black is not capable of outputting a 4K signal to a 4K HDTV, and will instead scale down to 1080p60 when connected via HDMI.
As seen in the video embedded above, 120fps at 1080p allows for stunning high-res capture with very low motion blur for most activities. The mode works best in well lit scenes, of course, and care should be taken when shooting with artificial lighting as the boosted shutter speeds introduce flicker, especially energy efficient fluorescents.
Capturing at 120fps opens the door to flexible slow motion shooting, with added detail clearly noticeable on a Retina MacBook Pro, becoming more pronounced when viewing edited footage on a 55-inch 1080p HDTV.
Live preview is not supported in certain shooting modes, such as 120fps at 1080p, but this was never a problem during testing as we were usually focused on the task at hand, not the iPhone's screen. Simply framing the shot and hitting record will suffice in a majority of use cases.
As is often the case with annual product cycles, the decision to upgrade comes down to the user. For those who want or need high-speed 1080p, the Hero 4 Black is the only choice in GoPro's lineup. The same goes for users who want usable 4K video. Being able to record at 120fps at 1080p is a boon for professionals and enthusiasts.

Live-streaming is still limited to 1080p and low-light performance leaves plenty to be desired. But with an Enduro battery now included as standard, plus a 5.3K TimeWarp setting, we found the GoPro Hero 11 Black a truly feature-packed action camera. It proved a polished companion in testing, balancing pro tricks with a user-friendly interface, all wrapped up in tough, pocket-friendly packaging.
But if you're happy to mainly shoot in 2.7K or 1080p, we found that the Hero 7 Black captures excellent quality video at frame-rates up to 120p, while offering the original versions of TimeWarp (for shooting hyperlapses) and HyperSmooth stabilization for smoothing out any judder. The other main difference from recent GoPros is that this model lacks built-in mounting fingers, which means you'll need the included mounting frame to attach it to objects. But that's not a huge deal and in most other respects (battery life, ruggedness, waterproofing and 12MP SuperPhotos) this model is a match for the Hero 8 Black.
The 1/2.3-inch sensor is relatively small, but it can still capture reasonable raw stills and 4K footage at up to 30fps. Overexposure is a risk in bright conditions, but colours are generally rich, with sensor-shift stabilization doing something to combat vibrations. In its high-speed setting, the TG-6 can also shoot 1080p video at 120fps, but only for 20 seconds.
Modern high-definition TVs, like LCDs and plasmas, use something called progressive scanning, which makes for inherently smoother imagery than older TVs were capable of producing. However, not all video footage is made for progressive scanning; many videos or films are broadcasted in interlaced form. To accommodate this, modern TVs employ a technique known as deinterlacing, which converts old interlaced footage to a non-interlaced (progressive) form. (See also 1080i and 1080p.) 2ff7e9595c
